London Public Transportation Cost

Think transport in the United States and images of the double decker AmTrak trains come to mind, or maybe the iconic Greyhound Bus fleet. But for many people, mass transit is simply the way they travel around, or the most convenient way to commute, just as public transport can be in England. Some members of my online network are conveniently located in many of the best cities for public transportation in the United States and have been sharing their thoughts on the accuracy of this document, as well as their own experiences.

Boston, Massachusetts

Boston is the fourth placed city in the recently compiled 10 Best Cities for Public Transportation survey, and it is not hard to see why. A local resident (a fellow writer) says that he uses the commuter rail to travel into the city and once there, the subway. He describes it as a "great system, pretty reliable and on the train I get some writing done." As in New York, the commuter rail has an extensive service to the greater Boston Metro area, which combined with cheap parking makes it a very affordable option.

Baltimore, Maryland

My contributor says that the Light Rail in Baltimore runs well and regularly, but may not be to everyone’s taste as it passes through some of the worst neighborhoods for crime in the city. This gives the criminals an ideal route to travel further afield to commit crime, but otherwise the service was rated from his personal perspective as "mostly clean and spacious". Trains stop running after 11pm most nights.
